8.15.07 - Shaping Outcomes into the future
Shaping Outcomes will be offered as librarian continuing education with the assistance of a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The Indiana University School of Library and Information Science, Indianapolis, is pleased to announce that they will offer the Shaping Outcomes course, beginning in January 2008, primarily to library professionals. The course, accessible from any state and library type, will teach participants the skills needed to design project evaluation suitable for LSTA and other library grant sources. Individual or team participants will pay a fee of $150 for instructor interaction and certificate of completion/skill attainment; IMLS scholarship funds will be available. More information in the fall of 2007.

12.05.05 - Spring Offerings
Spring 2006 offerings of Shaping Outcomes will evaluate the effectiveness of the course with library staff from the University of Arizona and the Kansas City Public Library as well as with IUPUI Museum Studies undergraduate and graduate students.
11.15.05 - Shaping Outcomes Testing
Version 1 of the Shaping Outcomes course is tested with three target audiences – staff from a children’s museum, Indiana University- Bloomington students, and IUPUI Library Science graduate students
10.01.05 - Case Study Development
Project members work in consultation with IMLS to select approximately 20 museum and library projects using outcomes-based planning evaluation. These projects will be developed as case studies exemplifying “best practices” implemented in a range of institutions.
10.01.05 - Version 1 for Fall 2005
Version 1.0 of the software was released October 1, 2005 for use in Fall 2005 courses: SLIS 615 and the online tutorial through Community Learning Network (CLN) for practitioners at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis and interested students at IU-Bloomington.
08.31.05 - Website Launch
The Shaping Outcomes website was launched August 31, 2005. This website was designed to provide news and information about the Shaping Outcomes projects.
08.01.05 - Course Version 1 Launch
Revisions based on evaluation data from beta test of the course and on feedback from the Steering Committee are made and Version 1 of the course is launched.
07.25.05 - Beta Version Available
A beta version of the course materials will be used for field testing during Summer II at IUPUI.
06.07.05 - June Steering Committee Meeting
The June Steering Committee meeting was a success. Held June 6-7, 2005, this was the first face-to-face meeting of this group.
06.01.05 - Prototype of Course Materials
A prototype of the course materials is now available online. This "alpha version" will be edited for use in summer testing.
